Living Fearlessly

Is Your Fear Of Money Stopping You Doing What You Want To Do?

I’ve noticed in conversations with clients how afraid of money we can feel.  It’s as if we think money has some power all of its own.

It’s not only the feelings which arise when we think about not having enough money, such as, ‘what if I run out of money?’ or ‘what if I grow old alone and die broke?’ which send us into a spin.

It’s an actual fear of money itself. It’s enough for some people to think about money to kick into instant panic mode.

Whilst money strategies of all varieties can be helpful and certainly have their place, they will never stop a fear of actual money.

When we’re afraid of money, it really just means we’re afraid when we THINK about money.

We create all kinds of doom and gloom scenarios about what lack of money (or even too much money in some cases) can mean for us.

It’s a crazy trick of the mind because even though it looks as though our feeling is directly connected to the money we have, it never is.

It’s an inside-out job. What we think about money at any given moment of the day creates our experience of money in the moment.

And it can change as quickly as you can order a latte.

One minute you feel terrified of ‘money’ and what an insurmountable challenge it seems to be for you.

And the next, your spinning thoughts miraculously calm down with no intervention at all.

Nothing has changed in your money. (Check your bank account) but something has shifted in your thoughts ABOUT money.

This is why money will never give us the freedom we crave. Mental freedom doesn’t come from money, no matter how seductive chasing more money may feel.

It can give you the resources to do more of the things you want to do which can be wonderful. But if you live in fear of money, having more of it won’t stop the fears.

You’ll just tweak your money obsession into one of, ‘what happens if I lose all of my money?’

It’s a fascinating phenomenon. Our relationship with money (our thoughts about money) are no different to our thoughts about sandwiches. We just tend to give them more power.

We think our thoughts about money mean something!

We usually dismiss our thoughts about sandwiches, the minute we finish eating one.

The beauty of understanding how the power of thought works is that you’re free to do the same with your thoughts about money.

Contrary to popular personal development, you DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING about your money fears. They are not solid blocks which need to be broken through.

We don’t even need affirmations to work through our money blocks …

We only ever need to see how thought works.

Thoughts come and go, just as the clouds in the sky do.

When you see this, your money fears (and all other fears) lose their grip on you.

You see them for the illusion they are.

Have there been moments in your life where you’ve seen the truth of this?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Please comment below.
